It’s hard to keep plugging away and not have any operable results. I’m trying to build my own turnouts, but haven’t been able to get them to work. I have an interim solution. I’ve ordered a handful of #8 turnouts and will be ordering a handful of Proto:87 frogs, so I can have a layout to run while I make the slow progress on building my turnouts.
I’m hoping this will also help move me forward with the other tasks I need to do to make my layout. Tasks like buildings, weathering, backdrops. It will also allow me to get the SIG Runaround track installed and ballasted and probably the SIG 1 Intermodal track.
Of course, It’s kind of a gamble using #8 turnouts as stand-ins until I get my #10 turnouts built and operational, but I’ll just have to take that in to consideration as I progress.
This will also allow me to actually test out my Proto:87 equipment on more than just a straight flat track.

Hi Manuel, The SIG Runaround is operational, it functions as the switching lead, no actual running around capability though. SIG 1 will be just a dummy track with stack cars parked on it. Thanks for asking. Greg
Yeah!. I know the feeling. I have been looking at your track plan and have a question. Will the SIG runaround track be operational or a dummy track?.
